Mekong Tour Packages

Are the packages private or shared?

The car, the driver and the guide are for your party only. Boat trips can be shared with other visitors or private to you; your quote states which, line by line. The fast boat to Phu Quoc on the six-day package is a public service.

Why is there no price on the packages?

Prices are on request. A package price depends on the date, the party size, the hotel level and the boat type, and a single number on the page would be wrong for most combinations. The pricing page shows how the price is built and which published fees go into it.

Can we change the route?

No. The route is what makes the inclusions comparable. You choose the dates, hotel level, rooms and boat type. If none of the four routes fits, a fixed package is not the right product for your trip.

Do you name the hotels?

Yes, on your written quote, once we have checked availability for your dates. On the site we describe each level by the room and the location instead.

Packages

Which package is the shortest that includes Cai Rang?

The two-day Can Tho package. It has one night in Can Tho and leaves for the market at 05:30 on the second morning.

Can the packages start from Can Tho instead of Ho Chi Minh City?

The route stays the same, but we can meet you in Can Tho if you are already there; the quote then removes the first road leg and shows that line at zero.

Do the packages run on fixed departure dates?

No. Each package runs for your party on the dates you choose.

Is the six-day package the only one that ends outside Ho Chi Minh City?

Yes. It ends at Phu Quoc airport. The flight from the island is not part of the package price and is shown as a separate line if you want us to book it.

Can Tho package, 2 days

Why not do Cai Rang as a day trip from Ho Chi Minh City?

Because of the clock. The market is busiest from about 06:00 to 07:30, and Can Tho is three to three and a half hours from Ho Chi Minh City by road. A day trip reaches it after the wholesale boats have mostly left.

Is the Cai Rang boat shared or private?

Your choice, written on your quote. A shared boat is cheaper per person and runs to a set plan. A private boat leaves when your guide decides and stops where you ask.

Can we be dropped at the airport on day two?

Yes. Drop-off at Tan Son Nhat is around 16:30 to 17:30. Choose a flight that leaves after 20:00 to allow for traffic.

Do we wear life jackets on the boat?

Yes. Can Tho's transport department requires passengers at tourist piers to wear life jackets, and boats on our trips carry them.

Can Tho – Chau Doc, 3 days

When is Tra Su forest at its fullest?

September to November, when the floodwater is high. The forest is open all year from 06:30 to 18:30 (published July 2026); outside the high-water months, ask on site which boat routes are running.

Can we take the Sam Mountain cable car?

Yes, as an optional extra paid on the day. The package includes the road to the summit.

Can we end in Can Tho and fly out from there?

The route ends in Ho Chi Minh City. Can Tho airport lists domestic routes; if you want to fly from there, we can drop you on day three and remove the last road leg, shown on your quote.

Is the festival at Sam Mountain a problem?

During the Ba Chua Xu festival, from the 23rd to the 27th day of the fourth lunar month, Chau Doc is very crowded and rooms are scarce. We tell you when your dates fall in that window.

Delta classic, 4 days

Why two nights in Can Tho and only one in Chau Doc?

Can Tho has the early market, which needs a night before it, and a free afternoon after it. In Chau Doc the two things worth timing, Sam Mountain at sunset and Tra Su at opening, fit around one night.

Is Thoi Son islet worth it if we have seen other delta islets?

Probably not. If you have already done a My Tho day trip, the three-day package, which starts with An Binh islet instead, is the better fit.

Can we stay at a homestay on the islet instead of a hotel?

No. Our packages use hotels at the three levels described. Homestays are a different kind of trip.

What if the Huynh Thuy Le house is closed?

We pass it in Sa Dec and go in when it is open. If it is closed, nothing on your quote changes, because we do not charge for it in advance.

Delta and Phu Quoc, 6 days

What happens if the boat to Phu Quoc does not run?

Rough seas can disrupt the fast-boat schedule. If a crossing does not run on day four, we keep you in Ha Tien and move you to the next sailing; any extra night is priced at cost and agreed with you before it is booked. The second night on Phu Quoc is there partly as a buffer.

Why Ha Tien and not Rach Gia?

The Ha Tien crossing is shorter, about an hour and a quarter to an hour and a half, against about two and a quarter hours or more from Rach Gia, and Ha Tien sits naturally after Chau Doc on the border road.

Is the flight home included?

No. Air fares change daily and many travellers fly on to Hanoi or abroad. If you want us to book it, it is a separate line on your quote at the fare of the day.

Do we need our passports on the ferry?

Yes. Passengers need ID to board, which for foreign visitors means a passport.

Pricing

Why is your quote higher than another one for the same route?

Usually because a line is different: a private boat instead of a shared one, a named hotel instead of "or similar", a guide on the boats instead of on the bank, lunches included. Ask both companies to price each line of the standard table and compare them line by line.

Can you give a rough price before we send dates?

We need a month, a party size and a hotel level to produce a figure that means anything. With those three we can quote; without them any number would be a guess.

Do you add a margin to third-party fees?

Entrance tickets, ferry tickets and boat fees are passed on at cost and shown as their own lines. Our margin sits in the package lines and is not hidden inside the fees.

Is a single traveller charged double?

No, but a solo traveller pays the whole room and carries the whole car and guide line alone, so the per-person price is clearly higher. It is quoted as its own row.

Read in full: Pricing.

How to book

How far ahead should we book?

For most months a few weeks is enough. For the weeks around Lunar New Year, the Ba Chua Xu festival in Chau Doc and the December to March season on Phu Quoc, earlier is better because rooms run short.

Can we book for a single traveller?

Yes. Every package runs for one traveller. The price is quoted on its own row, because the car, the guide and the room are not shared.

Do you need our passport details?

Only the names as written in your passports, and only for the six-day package, where we buy the ferry tickets with your names. Bring the passports themselves; you need them to board.

What if we arrive in Vietnam the same morning?

We do not recommend it. The packages start at 07:30 and the first day is a long one. Arrive the day before.

Read in full: How to book.

Destinations

Which place should we not miss?

For most first visits, Can Tho, because of the early market. That is why every package includes it.

Is Chau Doc worth the extra day?

If you want to see the delta change from river city to border country, yes. Sam Mountain and Tra Su forest are unlike anything closer to Ho Chi Minh City.

Do the packages visit Phu Quoc's sights?

No. The six-day package gives you two free nights on the island, with transfers but no guide or touring.

Why do some pages mention new province names?

Because the 2025 provincial merger changed them. We use town names, and the former province names where it helps you find a place on a map.

Can Tho

How early do we need to leave for Cai Rang?

Around 05:30 from a central hotel. The boat takes 30 to 40 minutes, and the market is busiest from about 06:00 to 07:30.

Is Cai Rang still a real market?

Yes, in the first hour and a half after dawn, though much smaller than it was. Later in the morning it is mostly visitor boats.

Can we fly into Can Tho?

Can Tho airport lists domestic routes. Our packages start in Ho Chi Minh City, but we can meet you in Can Tho and remove the first road leg from the quote.

Is it safe to walk the riverfront at night?

The Ninh Kieu riverfront is busy in the evening with local families and the night market. Take the usual care with bags and phones in crowds.

Read in full: Can Tho.

Chau Doc

What time should we be at Tra Su?

At opening, 06:30. An independent guide names 06:30 to 08:30 as the best time to visit, and that is when our packages go in.

Can we see the Cham villages on a package?

They are not a named stop on our routes. If you arrive early in the afternoon, your guide can suggest how to cross the river; the boat is then an optional extra.

Is the Sam Mountain cable car included?

No. The road to the summit is included; the cable car is optional.

Can we continue to Cambodia from Chau Doc?

Boats run from Chau Doc to Phnom Penh, but our packages do not cross the border.

My Tho and Ben Tre

Is Thoi Son islet touristy?

Yes. It is the most visited islet near Ho Chi Minh City and runs a set circuit. It is still the easiest way to see the narrow canals in a morning, which is why we include it on the way.

Do we cross the new Rach Mieu bridge?

Our packages reach Thoi Son by boat from My Tho, so you see the bridges from the river rather than cross them.

When is fruit season?

Broadly May to August across the delta, when rambutan, durian, longan and mangosteen are picked.

Can we stay overnight in Ben Tre?

Not on our packages. They spend the night in Can Tho, which the early market needs.

Read in full: My Tho and Ben Tre.

Rach Gia and Ha Tien

Which is quicker to Phu Quoc, Ha Tien or Rach Gia?

Ha Tien, at about an hour and a quarter to an hour and a half at sea, against about two hours and ten minutes or more from Rach Gia.

Do we need to book the boat in advance?

On the six-day package we buy the tickets for you and fix the sailing on your final itinerary. Travelling independently, buying ahead is sensible in the dry season.

Can we take a car across?

There is a car ferry, slower at about three hours. Our package uses the fast passenger boat and a separate driver on the island.

Is Ha Tien worth a night on its own?

For a slow evening by the lagoon and a few modest sights, yes. It is not a place for several days unless you want quiet.

Read in full: Rach Gia and Ha Tien.

What all-inclusive means

Is anything paid locally on the trip?

Only what you choose: dinners, drinks, optional extras and tips. Everything in the left-hand column of the standard table is paid in advance as part of the package.

Why not include dinners and call it full board?

Because most travellers want to choose where and when to eat in the evening, and a set dinner would add cost for a meal many would skip.

Is the guide with us on Phu Quoc?

No. On the six-day package the guide's service ends at the Ha Tien ferry. The island days have transfers but no guide or touring.

Are there shopping stops?

No. Some workshops on the route sell what they make, such as coconut candy. Buying is your choice and nothing is added to your price.

Hotel levels

Can we choose a specific hotel?

Tell us in the form. If it fits one of the three levels and has rooms on your dates, we quote it. The route and the other lines stay the same.

Why no star ratings?

Because they vary widely between delta hotels. Describing the room and the location tells you more.

Do all rooms have air-conditioning and a private bathroom?

Yes, at all three levels.

Is Deluxe worth it for one night?

Usually only if you will reach the hotel early enough to use it. On early-start nights, Standard or Superior is the better value.

Read in full: Hotel levels.

When to go

Is the rainy season a bad time to go?

Not for the delta itself. The boats run, the orchards are full and Tra Su is at its fullest from September. The main drawback is the sea crossing to Phu Quoc.

Which month is the driest?

In Can Tho, February, with only a few millimetres of rain on average. January to March are all very dry.

When is Tra Su forest at its fullest?

September to November, during the high-water season.

Should we avoid Lunar New Year?

Not necessarily. The flower villages are at their most colourful, but rooms cost more and fill early, and some small businesses close around the holiday.

About us

Are you a tour operator or an agency?

We sell packages directly to travellers and arrange the hotels, cars, guides, boats and tickets that go into them. Your written confirmation states who provides each service.

Do you sell packages outside the Mekong Delta?

No. Four delta packages are all we sell.

Can we speak to someone before sending the form?

The form is the way to reach us. We reply by email; send questions in the notes field and we answer them in the same reply as the quote.

Why only four packages?

Because each one has to be written, priced and checked line by line. Four routes cover the delta's main places at two, three, four and six days.

Read in full: About us.

Contact

Is there an office we can visit?

Not at present. The form and email are how we work.

Can we ask questions before choosing a package?

Yes. Put them in the notes field. We answer them in the same email as a first quote.

Do you answer general questions about the delta?

If they relate to a trip you are planning, yes. The destination pages and the when-to-go page cover the most common ones.
