Hotel room with a window looking over a wide river and boats in a Mekong Delta town

Three hotel levels, one route

Every package on this site can be booked at Standard, Superior or Deluxe level, and nothing else changes. This page describes what each level means in each town on our routes, by the room and the location, and when each one is worth paying for.

What changes and what does not

When you move a package from Standard to Superior or Deluxe, one line on the quote changes: the hotel nights. The car, the driver, the guide, the boats, the tickets and the lunches stay exactly the same. That makes the decision simple to read. The difference between two levels on your quote is the cost of a better room, multiplied by the number of nights, and nothing else.

We describe the levels by the room and the location, not by stars. Star ratings in the delta are uneven, and two hotels with the same rating can be very different places to wake up. Your quote names the hotel and the room category once we have checked availability for your dates.

Hotel names

We describe the three levels by the room and the location, not by hotel name or star rating. Your written quote names the hotel and room category for each night once we have checked availability for your dates.

The three levels in general

Standard

A clean room to sleep in

A compact double or twin with air-conditioning and a private shower room, in a central hotel. The window may face a side street. Breakfast is simple. Good for travellers out from early morning to dusk.

Superior

More room, a better position

A larger room with newer fittings, often on or near the riverfront, sometimes with a view from upper floors. A fuller breakfast. The usual choice for couples and families.

Deluxe

The upper level of each town

The larger rooms available in the town, often with a river or garden view and a pool on site. Not a luxury resort: in small delta towns the upper level is modest, and we say so below.

Published averages give a sense of scale: in 2023 VnExpress put hotels in Can Tho's Ninh Kieu district at about VND 500,000 to 800,000 a night, and in 2026 it put hotels in Sa Dec at about VND 500,000 to 1,000,000. Those are averages, not our rates. Your quote prices each night at the level you choose for your dates.

When Standard is the sensible choice

  • On the two-day package, where you check in mid-afternoon and leave at 05:30
  • In Chau Doc, where you arrive at dusk and leave for Tra Su at 06:00
  • When your party is large enough that rooms are the main cost and the hotel is mainly a bed
  • When you would rather spend the difference on private boats, which change the day more than the room does

When to pay for Superior or Deluxe

  • On the four-day package's second night in Can Tho, which has a free afternoon
  • On Phu Quoc, where the two nights are free days and the hotel is the day
  • If you are travelling in April or May, the hottest months, and want a pool after the morning boats
  • If anyone in your party sleeps badly in street-facing rooms

Mixing levels is allowed. Each night is a separate line, so you can choose Standard in Chau Doc and Ha Tien and Deluxe on Phu Quoc, for example. The quote shows the cost of each choice on its own.

Single rooms and the supplement

A room costs the same whether one person or two sleep in it. Two travellers sharing each pay half; one traveller alone pays the whole room. The single supplement is the difference, night by night, at the level you choose, so it grows with the level. A solo traveller on the six-day package at Deluxe pays the largest supplement on the site, mostly because of the two island nights.

The pricing page works through the supplement on each package.

What Deluxe is not

Deluxe on this site means the upper level of what each delta town offers. It is not a luxury stay. In Chau Doc and Ha Tien the upper level is a good provincial hotel, and the gap between Superior and Deluxe is small. If what you want is a trip built around a luxury hotel or a river cruise, a fixed package with three hotel levels is not the right product, and we would rather tell you now.

To see the levels in context, open any package: the two-day, three-day, four-day or six-day package. Each shows its own town-by-town table.

Common questions

Questions travellers ask most

Can we choose a specific hotel?

Tell us in the form. If it fits one of the three levels and has rooms on your dates, we quote it. The route and the other lines stay the same.

Why no star ratings?

Because they vary widely between delta hotels. Describing the room and the location tells you more.

Do all rooms have air-conditioning and a private bathroom?

Yes, at all three levels.

Is Deluxe worth it for one night?

Usually only if you will reach the hotel early enough to use it. On early-start nights, Standard or Superior is the better value.
